Calvo Group joins United Nations Global Compact

Grupo Calvo, socio del Pacto Mundial de Naciones Unidas

International food group Calvo has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest voluntary corporate social responsibility initiative, in addition to becoming a partner of the Spanish Network of the Global Compact.

Calvo thereby embraces the vision of the United Nations, promoter of the Global Compact, which, in furtherance of fulfilment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) included under the 2030 Agenda, prescribes engagement and direct involvement on the part of the business community.

Through this endorsement, the Calvo Group publicly undertakes a commitment to integrate into its business strategy and across company activities the ten Global Compact principles aimed at driving Social Responsibility. These principles include initiatives and commitments in the areas of human and labour rights, environmental affairs and anti-corruption.

Becoming part of the Global Compact is yet another milestone in the Calvo Group’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, and is a component of carrying out the company’s Strategic Responsibility Plan. This plan transversely affects all of the group’s business units and areas of activity with the aim of promoting a responsible business model that is sustainable in the long term, in line with the company’s values and way of doing things since its inception more than 75 years ago.

Calvo Group CEO Mané Calvo expressed the following: “Active participation in the Global Compact is going to enable us to continue to move forward in our commitment to ethical and responsible management of our business. We hope to make the most of this platform for exchange and endeavour resulting from sharing experiences and practices with other businesses and institutions in order to become an industry benchmark in the realm of sustainability.”
