Specifically, the company has secured the eighth position in the food sector of this ranking which assesses the most responsible companies with best practices in environmental, social and good corporate governance matters.
Madrid, February 16, 2023 – Grupo Calvo has been acknowledged as one of the top ten food companies that excel at corporate responsibility in Spain, according to the latest Merco ranking, ESG Responsibility 2022, the results of which were announced yesterday.
The company, specifically, holds eighth place in the food sector of this ranking that evaluates the most responsible companies with best practices in the environmental, social and good corporate governance realms. Entering the ranking for the first time in 2020 in thirteenth place, Grupo Calvo managed to climb five spots and consolidate its position this year.
The attainment of this position reinforces Grupo Calvo’s work focused on ESG, which is materialized in the company’s ‘Responsible Engagement’ sustainability strategy. This initiative—divided into three major areas: oceans, environment and people—was launched in 2019 and establishes 21 improvement targets set by the company to be met by 2025 in all the countries where it operates.

We are therefore tremendously proud to be included in this MERCO ranking, which recognizes the effort companies are making in the sustainability arena,” stated Mariví Sánchez, director of Sustainability and Communications at Grupo Calvo.
Merco had the participation of over 1,000 executives, financial analysts and economic information journalists in preparing the ranking. Also taking part were members of consumer associations, trade unions and NGO representatives, among others.
