Madrid, May 28, 2024 – Nauterra (formerly Grupo Calvo), the global food company specializing in canned fish and seafood, achieved a turnover of €697 million euros, exceeding the previous year’s figure by 3%, and EBITDA amounting to €55.6 million euros, up by 7.8% over 2022.

With an increase in marketed volume, Nauterra reached the total of 100,864 tons of finished product distributed in more than 70 countries, with Brazil (47%), Spain (20%), and Italy (18%) leading the way.
Nauterra thus continues to grow in spite of the major challenges the company faced in 2023, including the all-time high in the price of olive oil, the high costs of other raw materials sustained since 2022, and rising interest rates in Europe.

Mané Calvo, CEO of Nauterra, highlighted the company’s significant endeavors over the year: “2023 was a year in which we stepped up our efforts to optimize our production processes and keep costs in check. Despite the continuing increase in the price of our main raw material inputs, we managed to endure the cost increase without having to pass the higher costs entirely on to our consumers. It was a challenging period, but also an enriching time in terms of learnings and improvements implemented.”

The year 2023 also saw the birth of the Nauterra corporate brand, replacing Grupo Calvo globally, and under which the company’s commercial brands—Calvo, Nostromo, and Gomes de Costa, among others—operate. Nauterra embodies the company’s raison d´être and materializes that purpose: to bring healthy food to people while preserving the best of nature. Nauterra symbolizes the company’s passion for the sea and its commitment to the land throughout its more than 80-year history.
